Scarecrows Festival 2026

  1. Scarecrows MUST be registered by October 3rd and displayed no later than 11:00 am on October 17th.
  2. Placement of scarecrows will be assigned at the Friendship Lodge 1167 Putnam Pike, on Friday from 5-7 and
    on Saturday from 8:30 am to 10 am. They will be numbered for judging purposes. Scarecrows must face the oncoming traffic.
    IDENTIFICATION WILL BE ALLOWED INCLUDING CAPS, SHIRTS, ETC. Signs must be no larger than 144 sq. in.
    We suggest using a QR code on the scarecrow sign to improve advertising.
  3. We invite all participants to include solar or battery lighting effects if possible.
  4. Scarecrows will remain on display and MUST be removed by Saturday, November 1st no later than 5 pm. Scarecrows not removed will be dismantled and destroyed by the Committee and applicants will not be allowed to participate the next year.
  5. If your scarecrow exceeds a 6’ by 6’ footprint call Keith
  6. Scarecrows must be family friendly and constructed to withstand adverse weather. Scarecrows do not have to be stuffed – be creative.
  7. Frames will be available on Friday 16th from 5-7 & on October 17th 8:30-10 for a $10.00 fee.
  8. Please maintain your scarecrow throughout the two-week period of display. scarecrows in disrepair will be removed by the Scarecrow Committee.
    Participants that don’t maintain their scarecrow will not be allowed to participate the next year.
  9. If a frame is attached to a lamppost, NO ADHESIVE OF ANY TYPE IS ALLOWED. Only use zip ties, bungee cords or rope.
  10. Judging will be based on CREATIVITY, QUALITY, and VISIBILITY. There will be three categories: Judges will award 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place ribbons. There will also be a peoples choice award for 1 recipient
  11. Registration is $20. Online registration is recommended and you can access the online application at glocesterscarecrowfestival.com.

  13. Political scarecrows are not allowed - Family Appropriate Themed ONLY. Any inappropriate scarecrows can be taken down at the discretion of the volunteer committee.

  14. The Glocester Scarecrow Festival is a fundraiser supporting our local food pantries. As such, all registration donations are nonrefundable. Thank you for your support in helping us give back to our community.
